Automatic Transmission Training

From local deliveries to national freight routes, licensed truck drivers remain essential to keeping businesses moving. If you’re ready to enter a career with strong job security and room to grow, commercial truck driving is a clear path forward.

Training with automatic transmission makes that path more accessible. Unlike manual transmission, it doesn’t require clutch control or gear shifting, allowing you to focus fully on the road, traffic awareness, and vehicle handling. Being a streamlined approach, automatic transmission training is a practical starting point for those eagerly waiting to join the industry.

What is automatic transmission training?

Automatic truck training prepares students to operate commercial vehicles with automatic transmissions. These trucks shift gears on their own, allowing drivers to focus on braking, steering, and road awareness.

Compared to manual training, automatic training requires less technical coordination. Manual trucks involve frequent gear shifting and clutch use, especially in heavy traffic or hilly areas. Automatic trucks, now common in many commercial fleets, simplify this process and allow drivers to concentrate on safe operation, turning, and vehicle positioning.

Automatic truck training follows the same structured approach as our MELT (Mandatory Entry-Level Training) program, which is required for an AZ license in Ontario. Our personalised program approved by Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005 covers 103.5 hours of training, including classroom instruction, in-yard training, and on-road and off-road driving practice.
