Financial Help

Caledon Truck Driving School is committed to helping students in the GTA begin their commercial driving careers with confidence. We provide access to a range of financial support options, including government-funded grants, flexible payment plans, and support for newcomers and Indigenous learners. 

Below, we’ve outlined various ways students can receive funding or loans:

Government-Funded Support

Contact your local employment office to talk about options. 

Better Jobs Ontario (formerly Second Career)

Provides financial support for individuals who are unemployed, underemployed, or on social assistance. It can cover tuition, transportation, and other essential costs related to truck driver training.

WSIB Return-to-Work Programs

Covers the cost of retraining through approved programs, if you’ve been injured or developed a condition due to a previous job. Funding is based on individual eligibility and case assessment.

Ontario Works Employment Assistance

Those receiving social assistance through Ontario Works may qualify for financial help to attend short-term training that leads to employment. Speak to your caseworker for eligibility and application steps.

Provides financial help for short-term training like MELT Class A program to those receiving social assistance through Ontario Works. Reach out to your caseworker for next steps. 

LendCare Equal Payment Financing

Caledon Truck Driving School offers financing through LendCare to help you pay for your training over time. Some students qualify for 0% interest. Others get rates between 9.99% and 29%, with the option to pay over as long as 36 months.

Student Loans

Most major banks in Canada offer student lines of credit that can be used to finance truck driver training. Caledon Truck Driving School is a Registered Private Career College, which means students may also use a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) to pay for tuition.

Indigenous Student Funding

Several programs support Indigenous learners entering commercial driver training. These may include tuition assistance, transportation support, and living expenses. Explore these programs:

Employer-Based Funding

In Ontario, some employers offer financial assistance to cover tuition and course materials to individuals interested in building a long-term career in skilled trades. Some programs include:

Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG)

Helps employers invest in training by covering a portion of tuition fees. If you already have an employer willing to support your training, they can apply for the grant directly.

Co-op Diploma Apprenticeship (CODA)

Eligible college students to earn a diploma while gaining apprenticeship experience. You must meet both the apprenticeship entry requirements and the criteria for their specific college program.

Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)

OYAP offers eligible high school students the opportunity to begin apprenticeship training while completing their diploma. The program includes structured work placements and supports early entry into the skilled trades. Reach out to your guidance counsellor for more details.
